Experimenting with Magnets

The students have begun their new unit on magnets. The pictures show the students participating in a variety of experiments. The students have learned how to follow scientific method and are applying it to each of the experiments.

So far the students have completed 4 out of the 13 experiments they will have a chance to conduct. We are having great time!

Forest Tour

The Forest Tour was on Friday October 5th. The students educated other students in the school about the importance of protecting forests and preserving the resources found in forests. The students presented information about Taiga, Temperate, Petrified, and Rainforests. The students also examined what it would be like to live in a world without forests.

The tour was very successful and students from PK through 5th grade had a chance to participate in this event.

Forest Dioramas

These pictures show the students working on their forest dioramas. The students researched the flora, fauna, resources, location, and a fact of their choice for each type of forest.
The students worked very hard and their finished dioramas were fantastic!

Bake Sale

We had a very successful bake sale! We raised 2005 kr. Part of this money will be used to buy 2 acres of rainforest, which will be preserved and protected.

Thank you for all of your help (the cakes were delicious)!

Sports Day!

We had a great time during sports day. The students created a fantastic cheer to present during the cheer competition. I have attached two photos that were taken right before. Unfortunately, the students were not as clean at the end of the day as they were in these photos.

Community Standards

I have included some photos of our community standards for those who did not see them during the academic evening. The students worked in small groups to write these and the final list was chosen by the entire class.

The first few weeks of school have been fantastic!

We have begun our unit on forests. The class visited the local forest to document the different types of flora and fauna that exist (I will post photos soon!)

During the first week of school, the students also wrote their class community standards which outline the rules they have agreed to follow.

It has been an exciting few weeks. I have really enjoyed getting to know all of your children and I am looking forward to a great year!
